New Season(2021/22)’s Coming!

After our last club night before summer break on 19th July, we have some exciting news!

The NDBA committee have decided to run a “ladder” system for each competition rather than individual divisions for the coming season (2021/22).

Each team will be playing 12 matches (Home and Away) with six other teams of similar strength. The first matches are scheduled to play from early October.

There will be a trial that the Open competition (ladies can join the team!) replaces the Men’s competition.

Members – please check your email/ WhatsApp message for details.

We welcome visitors to come down and play – please get in touch.

Look forward to seeing you on Monday 6 September.

Club Men’s Singles trophy rescured

We had the good fortune of a message from Wayne at Community Spirit Thatcham in connection with this tankard. It is the Newbury Badminton Club Men’s Singles trophy.

The first winner was D.T. Jones in 1964, T.C. Snook won in 1968, A.A.M. Vockins 1969, R. Deasley 1970. The last winner was R.J. Haney in 1984. Some members still remember some of those names!

Wayne would not accept a donation for rescuing the trophy. If members have anything that they wish to donate to a charity shop go to Community Spirit Thatcham at 34 High St, Thatcham RG19 3JH. Visit their Facebook for more information.
